One step closer to The Host movie

in The Midnight Cup of Coffee

Soon, soon, soon..

We still have to wait one more year for the movie adaptation of ‘The Host‘ by Stephenie Meyer. Not sure how many of you have read the book yet but I did, and I loved it, and I can’t possibly wait to see it on the big screen.

With the movie being filmed right now, several official pictures have been released in the past week.

The picture that I like the most is the one below, showing Wanda (played by Saoirse Ronan) and her wonderful alien eyes. I’ve seen some of Saoirse’s movies and I liked her acting, and now seeing her in Wanda’s role I think she might be a good choice for our beloved character.

Also, the last weekend we had the pleasure to see for the first time some pictures showing Melanie and Jared in Melanie’s memories:

  • the first time they met, when Jared had to make sure that she was not an alien.

  • a happy moment shared together, when Melanie was still 100% human.

Another picture shows Wanda’s mirrored reflection (I could take a wild guess and say that this might be the first time she sees herself in the mirror after the ‘change’, or maybe even the first time Wanda hears Melanie in her head – but as I said – this would be just my best guess and I might as well be wrong):

Some people had a bit of a problem with the clothes the seeker is wearing in this picture – as she was supposed to dress in black and to have dark hair as well.

At this moment I don’t really have an opinion, as I’ve read the book a very long time ago (and I need to refresh my memory), and also because this kind of changes doesn’t seem so important to me – if she can act like the seeker, she can have purple hair and I still won’t care much about it.

Another picture that got my attention is fan-made and it had been published on the The Host Facebook page; it looks amazing and I simply love it, so I had to share it will you all:

  1. I might have to make another attempt to read it. I couldn’t get into it the first time. Maybe I was expecting something that wasn’t there…I knew it wasn’t about vampires but I…well..I don’t know what I expected! lol

I remember thinking that the beginning was slow and a bit hard to get into, but after the first chapters it got really interesting with plenty of action and lots of lovely characters. For me it was better than Stephenie’s first book series (but this is just a personal opinion and it depends on many things), so I just hope that you will enjoy it as well when you decide to give it one more try 😉

I loved ‘The Host’ too, and I can’t wait to see this story on the big screen.
Hopefully will have more news now that filming is quite finished (not sure why all this secrecy – we don’t even know the full cast)
