What a wonderful year we had together!

I can barely believe it’s almost over.
I had a lot of fun online as well as offline… and I am happy to see that the blog is getting appreciation from more book fans everyday. Thank you all!
For the next year (in terms of reading) I hoped for more free time, to be able to stick my nose in my never-ending pile of books, and also for more happy moments with my loved ones.

Let’s see what books did I love this year:

Best book read in January:

On the Jellicoe Road
by Melina Marchetta

Oh, this is a hard book to review and I know that I won’t make it justice so I won’t even try that much. One word: awesome! Why? Because is so complex and beautiful, and the characters are amazing and smart and funny, and the drama is not overwhelming, and the story makes you laugh and shudder (and some say that they even cried), and you say ‘wow’ a lot of times, and when you think that you have it all figured out … Read more

Also I Loved:
The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
Across the Universe by Beth Revis
Rhymes with Cupid by Anna Humphrey

Best book read in February:

timeless-featured

Timeless by Alexandra Monir

First impression: I’ve heard about loving a book from the very first page, but I’ve never felt this way before. Not until now… “There is nothing in this life that can destroy you but yourself. Bad things happen to everyone, but when they do, you can’t just fall apart and die. You have to fight back. If …Read more

The Education of Hailey Kendrick by Eileen Cook
Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton

Best book read in March:

Finnikin of the rock by Melina Marchetta

“…Because without our language, we have lost ourselves. Who are we without our words?” Wonderful, amazing, beautiful, absolutely brilliant… I need more stars! ★★★★★★★★★★ This was such a powerful story that got straight to my heart. After finishing it I was left speechless – Melina Marchetta has this effect on people … Read more

Also I loved:
Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken
Not That Kind of Girl by Siobhan Vivian
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Best book read in April:

You Against Me by Jenny Downham

Before reading it, I thought that the story would be about who was saying the truth and who was lying – and maybe in a way this is true. But I was surprised to see that this story was more about choices, and family, and loyalty, and love, and trust.. about finding the soft line between what’s right and what’s wrong – because what was right for someone it was always wrong for the other …Read More!

Where She Went by Gayle Forman
Stay by Deb Caletti
North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley

Best book read in May:

Divergent by Veronica Roth

To be honest, I am a bit angry at myself for not writing down the review right after reading the book, because I can’t find a way to make it justice.. Divergent was such a great book, better than it seems from this review, and I hope that many other people will enjoy it as much as I remember enjoying it myself. Also I hope that my 5 stars rating it’s an enough proof for its awesomeness …Read More!

Best book read in June:

The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen

I might need to change my rating system for this book to be given only 5 stars..
Also i need some time to sort out my feelings (between both overwhelming joy and sadness) and come up with a proper review, because i have lots of “wow”s in my mind right now, but i fear that it might not be enough to express how beautiful this book really is. This story really touched a soft spot in my heart …Read More!

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder

Best book read in July:

The Piper’s Son by Melina Marchetta

This was such a beautiful story (as usual).
I am a Marchetta fan – she is simply amazing, she knows how to rip your heart out and then to put it back in place.
And, BTW, if the next one is about Jimmy i’m going to be so, so happy!

Best book read in August:

Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley

Can you be in love with a book? I know that I can fall in love with a character, I had a few crushes here and there, but if I were to want to get married with a book, I would propose to this one in a heartbeat. Dear Graffiti Moon, will you please marry me?.. For richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as we both shall live, until my kindle do us part.. Will you? …Read More!

Also I loved:
Saving June by Hannah Harrington

Best book read in September:

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

I was hooked from the very first page.. yes, I can say that again.
My mind is full of beautiful stories of angels and demons (is that the right word?), stories of love and hope, stories of mythical creatures in a war as old as the world itself… My mind is screaming: I want more, I need more! One word: Hope; Two words: Amazing story; Three words: I LOVED it!; Four words: Go read it NOW! …Read More!

There you’ll find me by Jenny B. Jones

Best book read in October:

Six Impossible Things by Fiona Wood

Dan put the cute into cuteness and if I have to define in one word the experience of reading this book I would say: delightful. […] If you think that this book is about him getting the things he wants (oh boy, you’re such a genius) yes you are right. If you think (like my husband) that they are not really as impossible as Dan thinks, you are ‘geniously’ right again.. But my review is not about praising your cleverness (which of course I deeply admire) so I’ll tell you what you don’t know …Read More!

Hallowed by Cynthia Hand

Oh boy, what a ride. This book is really amazing, for me it was better than the first one, and I enjoyed every single bit of it – the dreams, the purposes, the teenage drama, the family involvement, the friendships, the decisions and all those emotions radiating from my kindle like heatwaves from hot pavement.. it was all so beautiful I can barely describe it. It was a mix of happy moments and dramatic turnarounds …Read More!

Ha-haa, what a fun way to spend the evening. This book was amazingly cute, and the characters too adorable for words. From Jordan and Henry, to JJ, Carter, Ty and the girls, and even the family members – they were all so great that I wished for them to be part of my life. They filled …Read More!

  1. Great picks, Ari! I like how you broke them down by faves each month. 🙂 I loved many of the same ones that you did, including Hallowed, Truth About Forever, Piper’s Son, and Divergent. Happy New Year!
