Alex Fuentes

(from Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles )

“[Life]It is what you make it. If you think you can’t change the world, then go on and follow the path already carved out for you. But there are other roads to choose, they’re just harder to trudge through. Changing the world is’nt easy, but I sure as hell am going to keep trying. Are you?”

What do we know about him?

Pros:

#1:He is hot and he knows it

“The reason I want you to put a shirt on is, well, because, urn…”
“You’ve never seen a guy with his shirt off?”
“Ha, ha. Very funny. Believe me, you don’t have anything I haven’t seen before.”
“Wanna bet?” he says, then moves his hands to the button on his jeans and pops it open.
Isabel walks in at that exact moment.
“Whoa, Alex. Please keep your pants on.”
#2: He is Mexican – wouldn’t you like his Spanish voice whispering in your ear?
“Como un angel,” I whisper.
“Is our game over?” she asks nervously.
“It’s definitely over, querida. ‘Cause what we’re gonna do next is no game.”
#3: He always looks for his family
“As a little kid, I thought I could save the world… or at least save my family.
I’ll never be in a gang, I told myself when I was old enough to join one.
I’ll protect mi familia with my two hands.
On the south side of Fairfield, you’re either in a gang or against them.
I had dreams of a future then; deluded dreams that I could stay away from gangs and still protect my family.
But those dreams died along with my future the night my father was shot twenty feet from my six-year-old face.”
#4: He can be amazingly tender and sweet
“It’ll be impossible to protect Brittany for the rest of her life from all the other guys who want to be near her, to see her as I’ve seen her. Touch her as I’ve touched her. Man, I never want to let her go.”
#5: He is smart and deserves a better life, even tough there are so many bumps on the road
“Senior year. I should be proud I’ll be the first family member in the Fuentes household to graduate high school.
But after graduation, real life will start. College is just a dream. Senior year for me is like a retirement party for a sixty-five-year-old.
You know you can do more, but everyone expects you to quit.”
#6 And.. oh, did I tell you how good he looks?
“I stare back, because two can play this game. On the surface he’s impermeable, except a scar above his left brow tells the truth… he’s human.
His shirt outlines muscles you can get only from manual labor or working out regularly.
When my eyes meet his gaze as we’re sitting here staring at each other, time stops. Those eyes are piercing mine, and I can swear at this moment he senses the real me.”

Cons:

#1 The gang thingy was getting on my nerves – he needs to stop trying to save the world!

“I really gotta go,” I say, glancing at the digital clock sitting crooked on one of the tool carts.
Brittany rests her chin on my chest.
“You’re going to quit the Blood now, right?” My body stiffens.
“No,”

So, why Steven Strait?

You might say that he is no good because he is not Mexican – well, you are right could you please just not mess up with my imagination?

  • He is hot
  • I like his tanned skin
  • I wouldn’t mind him fixing my car (oh well, this sounded so much better in my mind)

See all my Book Boyfriends here!
Happy midnight dreams, girls!

You had me at Spanish voice whispering in my ear! You gotta watch out for those Spanish guys. Those quotes are positively steamy. I love it!

    • Ari says:

Talking about whispering.. I might need to find a “book boyfriend voice” too, to go with it :))

      • Lan Chan says:

That’s a fantastic idea! There’s no shortage of sizzling Spanish accented guys around. Makes me want to read an audiobook!

        • Ari says:

Oh well, more tempting than an audio book (with a great Spanish male voice) would be an actual Mexican guy reading to me, but I think I might be pushing my luck here LOL

  2. thefeministfairy says:

Love Alex! I think a re-read of Perfect Chemistry is in my future!

  3. Missie Bee says:

ZOMG! Thank you so much for introducing me to Steven Strait! I’m now going to spend the day googling him.

And I can’t tell you how much I love Alex Fuentes. I loved when he whispered so sweetly in Spanish to me.. um.. I mean whatsherface. LOL

Perfect Choice, for this Perfect Chemistry hottie.

    • Ari says:

I think I would have learned a bit of chemistry with a hottie like that in my classroom :)) *cough* not the kind of chemistry my teacher would have approved, but still *cough*

Steven doesn’t seem to show his pretty face too much these days (unfortunately).
I had a crush on him a few years back when I saw him in “The Covenant” and I liked “10,000 BC” as well, if you are interested 😉

oh my god, after that first picture I had to close the window!! I’m suing you for not putting up a HOTNESS ALERT!! (which is totally legal because did you know some women sued McDonald’s because there coffee WAS TOO HOT?! I swear some people are just…..)

I thought me and you were going to get into it about Graffiti Moon but you’re stepping into MAJOR dangerous territory close to my heart with Alex and I don’t like it! *sigh* let’s just take a quick moment of silence to contemplate Alex’s amazingness, sexiness and every other good -ness there is….

You know, I live in Houston. We got more Mexicans then any other race here (thank god for that, can one just marry me already?) and I didn’t find my Alex or someone remotely as sexy except this one guy but he has 2 kids & he’s only like 19. I’m not about to be no step momma XD

This really is the perfect post♥ I love Alex, I love the pictures this model also fits perfectly and the quotes make me want to read the book again umm what’s that? is that french homework I hear? no-no I think all Alex hotness is catching up to me and doing something to my brain…

You did the world nothing good with this post Ari!

    -thank you&come again.

    • Ari says:

Oh honey, you’re too sweet for your own good. You made me laugh so much :))
I think I like more your comment than my actual post, and this is a lot since i’m pretty proud of my Alex.
This being said I am not letting him out of my sight even for five seconds.. no no no, he is totally mine – and I think that there is still enough room in my harem (of incredibly beautiful men) for Shadow as well, but shhht, Alex shouldn’t know about the harem :))
Anyways, when you find that sexy Mexican boy you’re looking for just let us know – pictures and all, LOL, ‘good-ness’ is hard to find these days :)))

      • Anonymous says:

I’m glad for that:D haha don’t worry, your post rocks more!!

oh boy, can I just barrow your harem? i think your blog is going to take a turn from all reviews to all book boyfriends XD calm down Ari, you mother would be ashamed! you can only have one man at once!! what would people say? & geeeesh, leave some guys for me!

LOL, watch me stop this random guy & be like ‘can I take your picture?’ & I would TOTALLY do it. I live for doing this kind of crap XD

        -thank you&come again.

        • Ari says:

ok, I’ll let you barrow them just because I’m in a good mood, and you’re such a sweetie (well, technically speaking I don’t know if 2 guys can be considered a harem, but I’m working on it, so ‘harem’ it is)
and you are right, one man at once – it’s only one boyfriend per week so we’re cool with that too :))

Why are my comments always longer then books? Sorry! If only I can write my essay’s as easy as I can reply to this I would be set for life man!

    -thank you&come again.

    • Ari says:

Ha haa, you are right.. and I don’t remember writing an essay as easy as a review either – not to mention these sexy articles :))

  6. Jesse Burgoyne says:

Ha! I love Alex! I still have to read Chain Reaction. I kinda want to know how Alex and Brittany will play into that story.

    • Ari says:

I liked the fact that they were making appearances in the other 2 books too – they were my favorite couple of the series and I couldn’t get enough of them 🙂
Hope you’ll enjoy Chain Reaction 😉

  7. I love how you use pros and cons and add the quotes. Very cool! I’m liking your blog, so I’m going to follow it. 🙂

  8. Abbeysbookshelf says:

    I love your blog 🙂

    • Ari says:

I have a lot of ‘book boyfriends’ that i dream about.
I’ll probably feature the other 2 Fuentes brothers too in one of these weeks 🙂

I have this series on my TBR list and I can’t wait to dive in. Love this post, the pros and cons are great! And the pictures…. *swoooooooooooooooon* Love Steven Strait. I haven’t read the book, but he seems like a great Alex!

    • Ari says:

Thanks, i’m glad you like it. And maybe (when you’ll start reading this book) it will also help having a nice image of Alex in your mind :p
