(#2) About ‘Unbreakable’ – the second book in the series

unbreakable-coverFour months after Ben disappeared through the portal to his home universe, Janelle believes she’ll never see him again. Her world is still devastated, but life is finally starting to resume some kind of normalcy. Until Interverse Agent Taylor Barclay shows up. Somebody from an alternate universe is running a human trafficking ring, kidnapping people and selling them on different Earths—and Ben is the prime suspect. Now his family has been imprisoned and will be executed if Ben doesn’t turn himself over within five days.

And when Janelle learns that someone she cares about—someone from her own world—has become one of the missing, she knows that she has to help Barclay, regardless of the danger. Now Janelle has five days to track down the real culprit. Five days to locate the missing people before they’re lost forever. Five days to reunite with the boy who stole her heart. But as the clues begin to add up, Janelle realizes that she’s in way over her head—and that she may not have known Ben as well as she thought. Can she uncover the truth before everyone she cares about is killed?

My review is still pending (I am fighting against time here and I’m pretty much on the losing side – so much happening in my life right now), but these are the things that crossed my mind right after I finished reading it:

“They were not kidding when they said the book is action-full and completely addictive. I have only 2 regrets: that I couldn’t read it in one sitting (as I was not able to fully appreciate the suspense this way) and that it ended so fast – I wanted more! *sigh* Are 100 pages too much to ask for? “

(#1.5) About ‘Undone’ – and Unraveling novella

undone-novellaBefore the accident. Before their universes collided. Before they fell in love.
Riveting and romantic, Undone: An Unraveling Novella contains three short stories set in the world of Unraveling, the first book in the gripping sci-fi duology by Elizabeth Norris.

Before Ben Michaels saved Janelle Tenner’s life, Janelle saved Ben when he stumbled through an interuniverse portal into a completely new world. That day, he fell in love with the girl of his dreams. And he never forgot her.

Through three stories told from Ben’s point of view, learn how Ben and his friends discovered their ability to travel between worlds, how Ben first met Janelle, and how he pined for her for years before he actually got the chance to meet her, save her life, and capture her heart. And find out what happens to Ben between the cliff-hanger conclusion to Unraveling and the beginning of its heart-stopping sequel, Unbreakable.

Loved it! Gimme mooooore!!!
It was so cute to see Ben crushing on our sweet girl when she didn’t even notice him for an instant. And.. now I understand why did his friends hate her so much when they finally/officially met. ;))
Also, I always thought that life “home” was going to be different than what Ben hoped, but hey, I still wished for the best and I feel deeply for him now.
There is only one ‘problem’: the ending! In fact both of them… I’m confused and I can’t wait to get my hands on the book and see what’s all that about and how all that mess is going to turn back right.
Oh my my my… My expectations are sky high and I am counting the days here…

Dear time,
Please pass already!

(#1) About Unravelling/Unraveling – the first book in the series

unraveling-coverSixteen-year-old Janelle Tenner is used to having a lot of responsibility.
She balances working as a lifeguard in San Diego with an intense academic schedule. Janelle’s mother is bipolar, and her dad is a workaholic FBI agent, which means Janelle also has to look out for her younger brother, Jared.

And that was before she died…and is brought back to life by Ben Michaels, a mysterious, alluring loner from her high school.
When she discovers a strange clock that seems to be counting down to the earth’s destruction, Janelle learns she has twenty-four days to figure out how to stop the clock and save the planet.

If I had to describe this book in only one word I would say “incredible”, but if I had more words to play around I would say something along this lines:

“Mind-blowing, heartbreaking with a pinch of humor and an action/suspense overdose… all in the best possible way. Keep both eyes on it when it comes out! And be assured – this is a hell of a great book!“

And if I had even more words to use.. well, you should sit down and read my full review here.

I hope the reading session went well this time again.
I might re-read this story too before writing down the review, as the first time I kept being interrupted – and I hate that so very much *sigh*

There were times when I though that it’s so great that this is a 2books series, because many books don’t seem to have enough plot for 3 books and they feel like dragging. But this time around, I kind of wanted badly one more book ;))
Still I can’t wait to read something different and I hope to enjoy it just as much 🙂

  6. Renu says:

I really enjoyed Unbreakable (even more than the first). Ben was adorable, Janelle was awesome as always, and Barclay…oh my gosh Barclay! I just feel in love with the dude in this book. The ending had me in tears, such a great duology!

    • Ari says:

I have to agree with everything that you said.
This was indeed an amazing series and the pack of characters was exactly what made me love this story so much. Off course, the mind blowing turnarounds helped, as well as the strong world building. I’m glad that you felt the same 🙂
