2012 – Best of the best

  • The Midnight Cup of Coffee

“The midnight cup of coffee” is an occasional article that usually includes news and interviews with and about my favorite authors, and some non-book related topics as well.

Another year has gone by – with ups and downs, with happy moments and sad ones, with great books to read and books that I’ve already forgotten, with stories that I will keep in my heart forever, with moments that changed me and moments that defined me, with words unspoken and dreams unknown..
And here we are, looking back to 2012 – a great year full of changes, where the one thing that remained the same is the passion for reading.

According to GoodReads I read 89 book (started a few more, but unfortunately didn’t manage to finish), and you can see below the best of the best – the books that I loved, the books I am happy to share with you all:

[Contemporary] Just like you and me:

Amplified (Amplified, #1)   Moonglass   Sixteenth Summer
My Life Next Door   The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight   Bittersweet   Flat-Out Love

[Paranormal] When the impossible becomes possible:

Enshadowed (Nevermore, #2)   Unraveling (Unraveling, #1)   Wings of the Wicked (Angelfire, #2)    Every Day  Severed (Fated, #2)

[Fantasy] All these amazing worlds:

Days of Blood and Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2)   Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3)   Froi of the Exiles (Lumatere Chronicles, #2)   The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)

[Dystopia] The future holds the key:

Blackout (Newsflesh Trilogy, #3)   UnWholly (Unwind, #2)   Pandemonium (Delirium, #2)    The Other Life

[Self-Published] From the author’s heart directly:

The Sea of Tranquility   Easy   Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1)

Note: I read the self-published version and I know that some publishers have acquired the rights for them in the meantime.

[Short stories] This tiny piece of happiness:

Radiant (Unearthly, #2.5)  Destroy Me (Shatter Me, #1.5)    Secrets of the Time Society (Timeless, #1.5)

[Emotional] Should come with a pack of tissues:

Stick  Between Shades of Gray

[Mystery] Suspense with a touch of humour:

Deadly Cool (Deadly Cool, #1)

But this is not an ending, this is also a beginning. See you around in the next year!
What other books did you love in 2012?

Happy midnight reading,
Ari

There are so many books on this list that I wanted to read but didn’t get around to. Maybe they will make my faves of 2013 list though.  :)
